Medicare is our country’s health insurance program for people age 65 or older. Since its inception in 1966, Congress expanded Medicare eligibility to younger people who have permanent disabilities and receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments and those who have end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Medicare has four parts: Part A is Hospital Insurance. Part B is Medical Insurance. Medicare Part D covers many prescription drugs, although some are covered by Part B. Part C health plans, the most popular of which are branded Medicare Advantage, are another way for Original Medicare beneficiaries to receive their Part A, B and D benefits (basically Part C is a public supplement option that can be compared with supplemental Medicare coverage from a former employer or private so-called Medigap insurance).
Medicare helps with the cost of health care, but it does not cover all medical expenses or the cost of most long-term care. We can help you find a plan to help pay some of the health care costs that the Original Medicare Plan doesn’t cover.
